Why do you need an interior designer +project manager?
If you’re looking to start planning a renovation, first things first – don’t panic. Renovating is generally expensive, stressful, and disruptive, no matter how organised you are. It is also however a crucial step to getting successfully from ‘having a home with multiple issues that irritate you every day’ to ‘having a beautiful home you love to be in, where every inch available is best utilised and the space makes you smile every day’. While it’s an additional investment, having an Interior Designer who is also a Project Manager can help make the process so much calmer, more straight-forward and better prepared for the works than you would be otherwise. We’ve outlined why below, keep reading for more…
We know the specialists needed
From small to large renovations, there will be specialists required across various industries. It’s important to know when a specialist should be consulted and who would be best choice for each part of the project. We have trusted contacts in different sectors who we can arrange to assist, and also have a good idea of their processes/how they work.
We can put together a realistic timeline
Timelines are tricky beasts, which have been particularly difficult to work to over the last couple of years. We’re now settling back into a somewhat more predictable set of lead-times, but the timing of each aspect of a renovation can change without much notice.
Having overseen many renovations, we know approximately how long each component of the works should take in 2024, and are able to arrange each area into a sensible and realistic predicted timeline, ordering items to site as required, and arranging specialist visits as needed. This will help you plan your life around the work, a crucial component of undergoing a renovation - neither we nor you want to have your furniture moved back in when we know we’ll have just made it to the half-way mark, and your home will very much be a dusty work-site.
We can help prepare you for the budget shock
Budget…always the least favourite part of any renovation. Costs have increased hugely over the last year, which while unpleasant, comes part and parcel with the industry currently (and will likely be the case for some time).
We can put together an outline budget at the outset of the planning phase, which can help prepare you for what is to come. We can then also help you source fittings and finishes in line with the budget…as while we would love all of our clients to have entirely bespoke furniture and hand-sculpted light fittings in every room, we know this isn’t realistic for most (and we have a lengthy list of more budget-friendly, good quality alternatives to work with).
We know the details to expect that might not be considered otherwise
There are so many moving parts of a renovation, it’s easy for little bits and pieces to slip through the cracks. Something like informing your neighbours of the pending works is very easy to forget amongst all other components of the planning process, which can then make the renovation much more stressful if said neighbour is then displeased about not being informed. These items are things we are very familiar with, and overseeing and preparing for them is part of the process we work to.
We know British homes + Interior Design very, very well
There are a lot of aspects of British homes that are somewhat unique, that we are very familiar with (lots of boxing around important pipework, we’re looking at you) – we’re even familiar with some of the surprises that might occur as the project progresses. We are also a team of talented and passionate designers, who truly love making homes better and more beautiful spaces to be in, that are also a reflection of each of our clients and their personalities. We’ve been making renovations happen for over 15 years now, and our combined Interior Design + Project Management skillset makes us very good at it.
