A dog's view on Interior Design

It’s the think-piece you didn’t know you needed: A Border Terrier’s perspective on interior Design Trends, by Shabba:
What I’m loving:
Traitors Chic
As a classic hunting breed originating from the Scotting Borders, I’d be well suited to castle life . Just imagine how glorious I’d look at Claudia’s side! If I can’t have that, the least you can offer me is a black sheepskin rug or a tweed chair, ideally near to a roaring fire.
Window seats (and floor to ceiling windows)
Observing the neighbourhood is of utmost importance. Houses should be designed with this in mind. Consider floor to ceiling windows to provide a view to your shorter household members, or a window seat to allow for comfortable monitoring.
On that point, I’m a big fan of green roofs. Attract the local wildlife as close to my observation point as possible, I say.
Big coir doormats
Nothing better than a coir doormat for a bit of scratching when modern life gets too frustrating. Not sure why you humans don’t do the same.
Home offices
If you must work, avoid leaving the home to do so. People should stay where dogs can keep an eye on them.
What I’m not:
Doors
Honestly, I don’t think any room should have a door. What are you doing that requires privacy? Nothing good. I don’t like the way they rattle in the wind. Deeply suspicious. Get rid.
*Editors note: What Shabba doesn’t appreciate is that Fire Rated doors are the most cost effective way to comply with Building Regulations relating to fire and that the alternatives (e.g. fire curtains, sprinkler systems) are extremely expensive and would significantly deplete the treat budget of most homeowners.
Tiled flooring
You say hygienic, I say slippery. My preference is for a carpet or rug, with as deep a pile as possible. I want to be able to entirely bury myself in it. I’ll tolerate sisal (see coir mat) or wooden floor with underfloor heating. Take note.
Cream Boucle
No-one with any sense ever let their dog on their cream Boucle sofa, and as such they should be vetoed. Whatever you choose, add blankets, and invite me up.
